Due to an overflow vulnerability in the hosting script, the hosting page has been taken down, thanks to some so-called ‘terrorists.’ NO USER DATA IS OR WAS AT STAKE, HOWEVER ALL DOWNLOADS HAVE BEEN REMOVED. The only thing that happened was the loss of hours of code. I REALLY hope that the evil people who did this die in a fire. All we were trying to do was give people free file hosting, and these idiots ruined it for everyone.

I would like to thank everyone for trying out Minousoft File Upload while it lasted. It was a good run, and we were happy to serve 25 files at 70MB before the incident. Stay tuned; someday we may create a new file upload system from scratch. Next time I will only use my own code; we were using a modified version of another script.

If you know anything about the attacks, please notify us so that we may pursue legal proceedings, and block the attackers from bothering us again.

The first is a remix of Still Alive from the game Portal in [...]]]> If you were around last year, you may have noticed a little-used video player box on the site. I’ve updated it, fixed it, and added some content. The Media Player is now available here. So far, I’ve added two songs to the player.

The first is a remix of Still Alive from the game Portal in an 8-bit style with stereo effects. The lead is a sawtooth and the bass is a square wave.

The second song is a request. I thought it was unusual, but it was interesting so I decided to do it anyway. It’s Fukai Mori by Do As Infinity in the same 8-bit style as my Still Alive remix. It was challenging to get the instruments to balance properly, as many bass tracks were playing at once, which was causing the digital filters to go into awful clipping bouts. I decided to mute some parts to keep the simultaneous note count down, which ended up working great.

To listen, simply open the Media Player. You can also send us a MIDI file and I’ll try to remix it. No guarantees, though, as music isn’t really my forté.

Lately, I’ve been fooling around with Valve Software’s Hammer editor. For those who don’t know, Hammer is a tool included in the Source SDK, which allows you to create maps for popular Source engine games, like Counter-Strike: Source, Garry’s Mod, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, etc.

Using Hammer, I’ve made a handful of test maps to experiment with. (Download link after the jump)

Most of what I’ve made so far is hardly release material. It’s mostly me testing out different types of entities (documentation for some of Hammer’s features is a bit lacking) but a couple of the maps are more polished, such as prison_1. In prison_1 I used various types of lighting and textures to give a realistic effect, such as the swinging lamp near the pool of water, or the bluish light inside the maintenance duct.

For some, this is an absolute miracle. For others, this isn’t much. Either way, I’d like to present to you AMailSender – a program to send anonymous emails from any email address you want.

I believe the UI is pretty self-explanatory, so I’m going to leave you to figure out how to use it. The only problem some users seem to have is with the SMTP server. SMTP server means Local SMTP server, not any SMTP server you want. For the more technologically inclined, the server has to be open-relay, which means either it has to be the one your ISP uses, or some other open-relay one (which are very rare).

Also, I am aware that the program crashes when trying to attach certain files of type EXE or COM. Please bear with it, I’m going to fix it as soon as I find some spare time (which’ll probably be in March/April). I’m getting swamped with schoolwork right now.

Finally, thanks to Oakwhiz for pointing out that the “Find” button for SMTP servers does not work. I was calling DnsQuery wrong, and will fix ASAP. Until I attempt to fix it, here is a tutorial on how to find your SMTP server. If you are not using MS Outlook, I recommend using this to find your SMTP server.

If you find any other bugs, please comment. Your responses are highly appreciated. (Would someone please test this on Vista as well. Vista is allergic to many of my apps)
